Use this outline as a guide for doing an investigation, and then for presenting your work on a tri-fold poster.
Background and Question: What do you want to learn? Do a little research, and make some observations. Make a statement about what you already know from your research and observation. Then, write a clear, testable question about what you want to find out. Remember, you can only test one variable at a time. Your poster must have a title, and state your question. It could also include background information, and how you developed your question.
Materials Needed: List all of the materials you used for the experiment.
Procedure: List the steps you took to test your question. Your explanation should be complete enough to allow someone else to repeat your experiment. You should conduct a fair test, and identify what you changed in your test to collect information.
Results: You did the experiment. Now, show the results of your test. Perhaps you will have a table or chart to show data. You can write a paragraph, have graphs, photos, objects, etc.
Conclusion: Tell what you learned from your results and make inferences about your investigation. Did it turn out the way you expected? Why? How could you improve your investigation? Did this experiment make you think of other questions you could test?
